ZANE LOWE
Born in New Zealand. Zane was in a hip hop group for about 6/7 years, called Urban Disturbance, before becoming a DJ.
Before working for the BBC, he worked for many years at XFM. He's been on Radio 1 since June 2003.
"The whole fun of doing a radio show is ultimately it’s really spontaneous and really live and you don’t have to think about it too much. But I’d like to think that what we’re doing is just getting behind the music. Making the most of the two hours that we have on the radio and just trying to employ a community spirit and bring everybody in on it. I think it’s much better when everybody’s involved."
Zane Lowe’s unique mash up set needs to be seen to be believed, he mixes, drum & bass, dubstep, dance, electro, indie, rock, & hiphop, to create unbelievable crowd reactions and high energy, that will get the bowl jumping.
STANTON WARRIORRS LIVE
The Stanton Warriors have succeeded in not only bucking musical definition but have picked it up by the collar and kicked it's ass out of the music world. With their eclectic past and drawing on some traditional sounds of underground house, hip hop, electro and funk, they've mixed up the old and the new and come out with something bigger than the sum of its parts, namely the Stanton sound! Not many can claim to have defined a sound but Mark Yardley and Dominic B should definitely be there if there's ever a ruck on the subject. The Stanton Warriors have carefully honed a distinct sound that carves up dance floors through 4 corners of the world sounding fresh and bringing something new to the party. They will be bringing a brand new LIVE show to this years Invincible.
SCRATCH PERVERTS
Tony Vegas, Prime Cuts and Plus One are the Scratch Perverts - a name that has become synonymous with HipHop and battle DJing ever since their formation in 1996. Their reputation as one of the world’s most progressive DJ collectives is unparalleled; two consecutive World DMC Team titles, Plus One's World DMC Champion and World Vestax Champion titles, Prime Cut's back to back World ITF Scratching crowns, and countless showcases and gigs all over the world.
The creative energy and enthusiasm that the Perverts exude is quite something, through all their schizophrenic influences and lofty ideals you get the feeling that they will harness and channel their combined creativity into something very special. “Our challenge is in coming up with something that’s an honest reputation of ourselves,” say Plus One. “Which is quite a difficult thing ‘cos we’re into so much different stuff.” As Tony Vegas sums up; “We’re just trying to true to ourselves, we want people to be left in no doubt whatsoever as to what a Scratch Perverts record is, you can guarantee that we’ll be bringing the same amount of honesty, energy, desire that we have to our DJing.”
BEARDYMAN
The UK’s Beatbox Champion twice in a row, Best Mc/Vocalist at the World renowned breakbeat awards ceremony Breakspoll and one of the most talented people you will find period. BEARYDMAN is going to take Invincible by storm as he creates magic that will fill all of our ears
CUBAN BROTHERS
THE CUBAN BROTHERS are unique. Born of the loins of seventies Havana, nurtured on a diet of soulful, sexy tunes and inspired by Cuban historical fact and mythology – their fresh approach to live entertainment whips up a frenzy at every gig.
Their legendary performance combines music, which evolves with every show, riotous comedy, both physical and observational, and sensational dancing - consequently the energy at every show is incredible.
The DUB PISTOLS
Barry Ashworth and Jason O'Bryan AKA THE DUB PISTOLS have spent the best part of a decade at the forefront of Beats culture. From their early singles for Concrete Records to their genre defying 'Six Million Ways To Live' long player, the Dub Pistols have always added a much needed Rock n Roll swagger to the UK's dance scene. Chewing up hip-hop, dub, techno, ska and punk and spitting them out in a renegade futuristic skank they have consistently defied categorisation and exceeded the highest of expectations.
BENJI BOKO (“bo-co”)
Blasting into 2010 at the O2 arena with Calvin Harris, Deadmau5 & Justice, not to mention the 17,000 people tagging along, Benji Boko took off into the new decade with a bang!
Can I MIX it? - Bokoʼs latest live show creation has been tearing through the clubs and festivals this past year.... from Rockness to V-Festival & Ibiza to Amsterdam.
“Benji is the future! His ʻCan I MIX it?ʼ show is FRIKKINʼ MEGA!” (DJ Yoda)
Boko describes his show as “on the fly, off the cuff, completely improvised live remixing.” Were talking Mozart vs. Missy, Dizzee vs. Depeche Mode and Snoop vs. Simpsons, just to name a few. Crowds are being transported from the 'normʼ into a world of pure imagination.
BEATBULLYZ
When Radio 1's Big Weekend came to Swindon in 2009 there was one local band on everyone's lips. Beatbullyz. After recording a session for Huw Stephens’ BBC Introducing, Beatbullyz have continued to go from strength to strength. Highlights include going on tour with Example and N Dubz and being invited back to Radio 1’s Big Weekend to headline the BBC Introducing stage.
As well as a solid gig schedule, the last 6 months have also seen the band knuckle down in the studio to record their debut album with the help of Jim Eliot (Kylie Minogue/Ladyhawke) and Chris Baker (one half of Mint Royale).
Invincible Festival is going to be the perfect place for Beatbullyz to showcase some new and fresh material.
